A1: Orientation Tomorrow!

Posted by Matt

The eve of our Bethany orientation is bittersweet. I'm thrilled about tomorrow, but I keep flipping past Fox Sports South and see future first-ballot hall-of-famer Cub great Greg Maddux pitching for the Dodgers. The road uni is still gray and blue, but the name on the chest is all wrong. My heart is heavy.

The silver lining is that I probably won't be thinking about The Professor’s Dodgers debut on our child's first birthday. Or tenth birthday. Or wedding day.

I have been thinking about those days quite a bit lately; believing that God is already orchestrating pre-natal care and birth, and praying that He’s preparing me. I am gripped with the knowledge that our Heavenly Father is about to entrust one of His children to my care. And not just any child… a child with a destiny.

Yep, I’ve already forgotten about Maddux.

On a lighter note, I just added e-mail links to the right sidebar. Now you can send us a message with a simple click. Best of all, I used a really slick e-mail encryption script by Jim Tucek to hide our e-mail addresses from spambots. Thanks Jim! That template upgrade, along with this post, is what I'm doing instead of wrapping up the last few items on my adoption paperwork checklist. That's my cue.
Later.

Maddux didn't help me forget...
He threw a no-hitter through six innings before a rain delay knocked him out of the game.
