A1: Fingerprints p2 & Exam

Posted by Matt

I finally went to have my fingerprints taken today.
As Teri said, it's a pretty slick system. No ink pads and smudged cards, just a laptop and specialized scanner. The only thing I got on my fingers was windex left on the scanner from the cleaning just before I arrived.

I had a busy day... after being printed, I headed straight to my medical exam, which was easily the least enjoyable experience of the process so far. I had to have blood drawn for required lab work and get a tetanus shot. I made personal history by not passing out.
I don't think you fully understand the significance of what I just shared...
For the first time in my memory, I DID NOT FAINT! Considering I once hit the floor in a puddle of my own incoherent slobber at the mere sight of a needle, I have reason to be proud. And it's a good thing... Teri did not go with me to serve as my designated driver.
There were plenty other unpleasantries as part of the exam.

Despite explaining the adoption paperwork and requirements to the doctor's office when making the appointment, they failed to mention on the phone that they do not perform one of the required tests on Fridays, and two of the tests require fasting...
You guessed it, I have another wonderful chance to display my newfound courage in the face of sharp objects. I have to go back next week to complete the remaining requirements.

Well, I don't want to whine, but my shoulder feels like it did when Paul used to slug me every morning to start my day of school. Just when the bruise from years of his radar-guided fist was starting to fade, I get a needle shoved into precisely the same spot. It hurts to type. I'm going to sleep.
