M3: Weekend in Atlanta

Posted by Matt

Teri and I had an absolutely fantastic time last weekend in Atlanta. This was our last trip before we complete our adoption assessment and need to save money and stay close to home in case of "the phone call." Prepare for lots of links...

The dining was exemplary. In addition to four visits to four Chipotle locations in as many days, we also ventured out to The Flying Biscuit Cafe, The California Pizza Kitchen, The Cheesecake Factory, Caribou Coffee, and the historic Varsity Drive-in ("What'll Ya Have???").

We also did a lot of sight seeing. We drove around the city quite a bit, taking in sites like the Governors Mansion, the State Capitol, CNN Headquarters, and the Cobb Galleria while President Bush was giving a speech there! We visited The World of Coca-Cola, a jazz concert in Centennial Olympic Park, Stone Mountain, Lenox Square Mall, garage sales in Buckhead, Atlanta Underground, and the Cubs Game graciously hosted by the Braves at Turner Field.

Teri sacrificed the requisite trip to Ikea so I could brainstorm re: our profile book at the nearby Sam Flax. I managed to leave just before Teri's cracking point, which would have coincided with closing time.

Aside from the relaxing time together, a definite highlight for me was receiving a baseball from Cubs left fielder Angel Pagan during batting practice before the game. We were able to venture down to the dugout and get a few autographs before ascending to our upper deck seats. Teri got ball park nachos, and the weather was awesome. What could be better? I guess a Cubs win would be too much to ask for.

All in all, we had a great weekend. Teri and I love Atlanta and highly recommend a visit. Check out the links for ideas.
