Matt and I had our couples interview yesterday - it went SO well. We had a lot of fun recounting when and where we met, how long we dated, when we got married, etc...it's been a while since we had to give someone the timeline of it all. We still cannot even fathom that we've been married 9.5 years. It's nuts! It has absolutely flown by.
Tomorrow is the actual home visit. It begins at 9am. We don't foresee any issues. We may need one more fire extinguisher or some easy fix like that, but overall it looks like we are good to go. After the visit, then it will take our caseworker about two weeks to complete the assessment and then we will wait for our approval letter! That will be an exciting day!
The girls went to the groomers today and got baths, their nails clipped and their hair brushed. So they are all ready for the home visit, too! I found a groomer in Knoxville that has student groomers so any grooming the students do is 1/2 off! It is awesome and a miracle when you have 3 dogs that need grooming every 6-8 weeks. I love that place!! Now we've figured out that we can alternate between a full grooming and the mini grooming that they had today. We love saving money. See, before we got Libby, Matt told me that we could get her if I would take care of the grooming. Well, the very same week I had to find a new groomers for the other two dogs because our old one in Maryville was no longer open on Saturdays so I had to find one closer to work. I found one super close to work and they give you a discount for student grooming. I had not heard of that for dogs. Sooooo...that totally worked out with the whole "getting a third dog thing." That was my way of taking care of the grooming! :) I honestly did try to groom Felicity and Francie many times, but the clippers I bought would always end up being returned to PetSmart because they didn't work well at all. It was a super big pain in the booty to try to groom them ourselves.
Well, besides counting down the hours to the infamous home visit, I am counting down the minutes until The Office starts tonight. It's about 210 minutes away!!! :)
Matt seriously rocked the house and finished his "to do" list already so we are pretty much ready to go for the home visit. Not much to do tonight at all (except watch TV!). I am so proud of Matt for not waiting til the last minute. In the past, Matt's mom has told his dad that a certain activity or deadline is earlier than it really is so his dad will be ready to go when it's actually time to leave. Years ago she told him they were leaving for vacation the day before they actually needed to. Everyone was clued in on it, but Matt's dad. That way when fake vacation day came and Matt's dad still had stuff to do, things to pack, desks to clean and errands to run - then Linda and the kids weren't frustrated and trying to get him to hurry. By the time he was ready then it was actually time to leave for vacation! Funny how that all worked out. I think that is absolutely hilarious! Thankfully, I have not had to resort to anything like that, but it is always in the back of my mind! :)
