A1: Background Checks

Posted by Matt

So, a few days ago, Teri and I ventured over to the Blount County Justice Center to officially verify neither of us have had any run-ins with the law.

We had planned on capturing the moment with our camera phones, but had to leave them in the car. The BCJC does not allow phones, pagers or the customary list of sharp & explosive items.

We must not appear very threatening. After watching the guards at the security check-point violate the juvinile delinquent ahead of us in line, we were scooted right through the metal detector and X-ray. The guard said, "It must be the metal eyelets on your shoes, sir."
As Paul and I used to say back in the day... "JKW" (just keep walking).

After gaining access to the secure building, Teri was able to randomly select the correct floor, door and service window we should approach. Strangely, it was the only one without a line. Five minutes later, we were certified clean by the nice lady at the window.

The experience, although quick and fairly easy, has prompted me to pray that our child never have to enter this building.

One more thing checked off the list. Now on to my daunting self-study.
