I had my fingerprints taken last Tuesday, May 2. I was expecting black ink and that goo stuff used to clean it off. There was no ink or goo, just a machine that scanned your hand and fingerprints. :) Pretty easy. That's probably the easiest part of this process! HA! Matt will go soon. His appointment was scheduled for May 8, but we may have to change that since he will be starting his new job at In1osity (where I work). Matt obtaining new employment is something that we have had to make an adjustment to. The main purpose is to help us along with the adoption process and also make it possible for me to be a stay-at-home mom after the adoption is complete. That has been our dream for a long time. Lots of changes right now, but we feel really good about things. Now, we just have to focus on the load of paperwork that is awaiting us. We plan to make time for the paperwork after my folks leave this Thursday. Our goal is to turn all of that in by the end of May/beginning of June. Then BCS (Bethany Christian Services) can complete our homestudy. BCS holds an orientation seminar that all adoptive families must complete before approval can be granted. They schedule those when they have a certain number of families that can attend, so that part is totally their timing. We're hoping that it will be soon. After the homestudy and seminar are completed, we move to the approval process.
I know that's a mouthful - that is why I decided to do the blog. I know it will be difficult to inform everyone (who is interested!!!) of all the details. I think the blog will help keep people informed and also serve as a "diary" of our journey. It will be amazing to look back on the blog entries someday and see how far we have come.
Well, that's my first blog entry... more to come.
